RockMelt : The New Web Browser @rockmelt

The new web browser called Rockmelt was introduced few days ago. The new web browser “Rockmelt” dubbed itself as “Your Browser. Re-Imagined”.

This afternoon I’ve got an invitation message in Facebook to download ‘Rockmelt’. Going through that particular invitation link, I was able to download the new web browser ‘Rockmelt’. First impression was fine for me.

Rockmelt is based on Chromium, the open source project behind Google’s Chrome browser, which in turn is based on WebKit, the open source HTML layout engine used by Apple, as well as a host of other projects from Mozilla and others. In a first look, you feel like, “Rockmelt “is just a Google Chrome with some cool new features. And if you are using Google Chrome, then you certainly like ‘RockMelt’.rockmelt logo

As they said, “RockMelt does more than just navigate Web pages”. Seriously it does. It makes it easy for you to do the things you do every single day on the Web: share and keep up with your friends, stay up-to-date on news and information, and search. They said, “RockMelt is fast, secure, and stable because it’s built on Chromium, the open source project behind Google’s Chrome browser.”

RockMelt came with many cool features. You can update your Facebook status and you can Tweet right from the browser. You can chat, share video, or just see what your friends are up to, regardless of what site you’re on. You can access  your favorite sites  from anywhere, without leaving the page you’re on.

Sharing on facebook and twitter have become more easier on RockMelt. Click “Share” and BAM – link shared. You can use it on any site to post to Facebook or tweet about it on Twitter. rockmeltIn a blog, RockMelt said, “RockMelt is  the first browser to be fully backed by the cloud” i.e.you can access your personal browsing experience from anywhere, and you get quick updates from the people and sites. From a RockMelt feed,  You can Like, comment, reply, retweet, share - all the actions you’ve come to expect from each service you follow.

RockMelt said themselves that, “RockMelt makes search faster. And better”. With RockMelt, you can use your keyboard to flip through Google search results and pick the one you want. Yes, certainly, this is a cool feature, and it is fast.

You can manage your bookmarks, settings and more from the  single tab, which is located at the top left side of the browser. And is more similar like, Google Chrome. It can be said, ‘RockMelt is just a Google Chrome browser with some extra features’.

It is not available for download, without invitation. It means, you need an invitation from your friends  or either you need to do sign up. And for now, it is only available for Windows and Mac, sadly not for Linux.

RockMelt Crashed :

Sadly, RockMelt was crashed when I was updating my Twitter. Also, when I was tweeting, I’ve been writing on Unicode (Nepali language), but after 90 characters, I was unable to see what I’ve written. And more over next time, it was crashed when I was trying to tweet in Nepali Language with nearly 110 characters.

It is in beta phase, and there may exist hundreds of bugs. Hope, RockMelt team will fix those bugs. And, of course, RockMelt has ability to Rock this world with their new web browser ‘RockMelt’ “Your Browser.Re-Imagined”.
