Yesterday 21 March was Twitter’s fourth Birthday. Twitter was founded by Jack Dorsey 4 years ago in March 21, 2006. Micro Blogging site Twitter has 200 millions users world wide.
Last month, Twitter hit 50 million Tweets per day, and last summer it was announced that “Twitter” would enter the Collins English Dictionary.
Twitter is a social networking and micro blogging site that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access.
On March 2010, Twitter has recorded a 1,500 per cent growth in the number of registered users, the number of its employees has grown 500 percent, while over 70,000 registered apps have been created for the microblogging platform, according to the first email newsletter on the company's progress by the website's co-founder Biz Stone.
Twitter is ranked as one of the 50 most popular websites worldwide by Alexa's web traffic analysis. Once Again, Happy Birthday Twitter.
