Software Freedom Day Celebrated at NCIT Balkumari #SFD11 #SFD2011 #Nepal

Nepal Open Source Klub (NOSK) has celebrated 8th Software Freedom Day at Nepal College of Information Technology (NCIT) Balkumari Lalitpur on 17th September. Various program has been observed in different colleges and communities across Nepal on the occasion of 8th Software Freedom Day.

Open source lover and supporters were presented in the program. Various events were organized through out the day. Followings are the list of program that has been observed in NOSK Software Freedom Celebration.

1. Distro Demo – Demonstration of various Linux Operating System like ubuntu, fedora, nepalinux, puppy linux, backtrack etc..
2. Software Demo – Demonstration of various Open Source Software
3. Movie Show – Short 2D and 3D movies made using Open Source tools are to be shown
4. Linux Installation Camp – Bring your laptop and we install Linux on them on the spot
5. Linux Rescue Cell – People will help you solve any problems that you have encounter
6. Live Quiz – Quiz to be help LIVE whole day
7. Talk Shows – Talks on different topics
8. Presentations – Presentations on various topics
9. Open Hardware – Session on Open Hardware (most probably Nepaliuno, a clone of Arduino)
10. Open Gaming – Play games on Linux
11. GB Satasat – Come and exchange the open resources you have with you
12. Freedom Toaster – Come and Burn an OS of your choice
13. NOSK Happy Boot DVD – One DVD with more than 5 different OS (made by NOSK using ISOLinux Environment)
14. NOSK Open CD 4.0 – One CD having useful open source software for Windows users (made by NOSK using Open Flash)
15. Developers’ Ubuntu – One Ubuntu Linux DVD that would have everything a developer needs (made by NOSK using Ubuntu Customization Kit)

Candle Light Vigil at Maitighar Kathmandu - Software Freedom Day Nepal

Day before, Nepal Open Source Klub(NOSK) has organized a Candle Light Vigil at Maitighar Kathmandu, at 18:30 P.M. NPT. A huge mass of open source lovers and NOSKians were there in the event, reports NOSKians OpnChaudhary.

Software Freedom Day is a global celebration and education of why transparent and sustainable technologies are now more important than ever. Software Freedom Day (SFD) is celebrated every year worldwide on 3rd Saturday of every September.

Lastly, thanks and congrats to NCITians and NOSKians for such a grand and successful program.
