The Editor of Share Bazaar Weekly, Dinesh Acharya has been arrested on 30th September 2013 in Kathmandu, Nepal on charges of sharing a news article on the Facebook page.
According to Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), "Editor Acharya was arrested by Nepal Police on charges of working against the Electronic Transaction Act and based on a complaint filed by industrialist Nirvana Chaudhary. On its edition dated 23-29 June 2013, Share Bazaar had published news related to industrialist Chaudhary which was shared by Editor Acharya on the newspaper’s Facebook page."
It's really sad to see that the authority is misinterpreting the Electronic Transaction Act 2008 and of course misusing their power.
After that incident people are sharing many old news on Facebook & Twitter that are critical to Nirvana Chaudhary, tweets Journalist Ujjwal Acharya this morning. He tweeted, "Social Media response to industrialist Nirvana Chaudhary's filing of case against journalist for sharing a news on Facebook is sharing of other many news, old and new, that are critical to industrialist Nirvana Chaudhary and his business group. Vaguely worded #Clause47 of Electronic Transaction Act 2008 is being misused by many to threaten journalists. It contradicts with #FoE.

Legal experts drafting #Clause47 of Electronic Transaction Act should feel ashamed for it's constant misuse to threaten Nepali media.
